Coach Schaefer is an alumnus of Temple University, where he graduated at the top of his class with a degree in Health and Physical Education. In 2002, after two seasons as assistant coach, Coach Schaefer was named Head Baseball Coach at C.B. West.
In 2003, Coach Schaefer led the Bucks to their first Patriot Division Championship and a top 5 ranking in Southeastern, PA. Coach Schaefer's 2003 CB West Team was named "Team of the Year."
Following an unprecedented season in 2003, Coach Schaefer led the 2004 Bucks to a #2 ranking in Southeastern, PA. He was named "Coach of the Year" by various publications and his team set the all-time school record for wins in a season going 21-4. The 2004 team also set an area record that season winning an amazing 18 games in a row. Seven players were named First Team All-League and many went on to play in major Division I college programs. He has coached numerous All-League players and sent numerous players onto high-profile college programs.
In the fall of 2007, Coach Schaefer accepted a coaching position at LaSalle University where he continues to help players meet their individual and team goals.

John is a former CB West standout. He is a 4 year Division 1 starter and in 2007 was named to the Philadelphia All-Diamond 5 Team. In 2007, he led his team in home runs (7), triples (5), RBI (31), slugging percentage (.646), runs (31) and Avg. (.385). In 2008, John was named team captain.
